Dr. Scott
Dr. Scott opened Vander Weit Chiropractic in January of 2007 and has been proudly serving the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills community ever since. Part of his mission is to be an intricate part of his community, educating the public so that they can make the best possible decisions for the health of their family. He believes that proper education is the key to a truly healthy lifestyle. Since opening, he has put together Kids Day America for the town of Algonquin, has served as a board member for Algonquin/LITH Chamber, and was awarded Business of the Year for the Village of Algonquin in 2009.
Dr. Scott started his chiropractic journey when he was a Junior in high school. At that time he was an avid football player, but was “sidelined” due to constant lower back pain. The only way he knew how to “deal” with the extreme low back pain and still be able to play football was to load up on Advil...sometimes 12 a day!
Finally realizing this was only masking his symptoms and not correcting the cause of the problem, he decided to seek out a more natural method of pain relief and healing. He decided that he would start going to a chiropractor. Dr. Scott would get adjusted before and after each game, thus allowing him to perform at his best. Getting adjusted allowed him to stop taking all the Advil that was tearing apart his stomach, and his low back pain was a thing of the past.
After high school Dr. Scott attended University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana where he majored in Earth Science/Environmental Resources. However, that quickly changed when his brother, who was currently enrolled in chiropractic school, would come home with a ton of great information regarding chiropractic and how it can help people have a better quality of life. He remembered how much it helped him in the past, and at that point his mind was made up. It was off to chiropractic school. After fulfilling the requirements that was needed at U of I, Dr. Scott was headed off to Palmer College in Davenport, IA.
While attending Palmer College, Dr. Scott was involved in many school clubs and organizations. He truly absorb all that was offered and his primary focus was to learn as much as possible about chiropractic. His most memorable experience was when he was able to participate in a clinic abroad program to Fiji. Dr. Scott along with 30 other students and doctors got to participate in bringing the power of chiropractic to the local Fijian villages and schools.
In his spare time Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife Brooke (his high school sweetheart), and their two children Paige and Trey. He also enjoys any form of exercising (biking, running, hiking, etc...) as well as camping, concerts, and spending time with friends.
Dr. Scott is dedicated to helping your family truly live a GREAT life with Chiropractic Care!
